Our Suggested Actions for April 14-18, 2008

1. Tell your Representative: Vote to fund the UN/AU Peacekeeping force in Darfur (UNAMID)

On Wednesday, April 16, the House Appropriations Committee will determine the level of U.S. funding for peacekeeping and other assistance for Darfur. Please take two minutes to call your representative today and push for full funding for peacekeeping and humanitarian aid in Darfur. Just follow the steps below:
Dial 202-224-3121 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and ask to be connected to your representative's office. Tell the staff person answering the phone that you're calling to urge your representative to support crucial funding for Darfur in the 2008 supplemental funding bill. This funding will protect and feed millions of men, women, and children in Darfur.
Go to www.savedarfur.org/action to report your call back to the Save Darfur Coalition.

2.Ask Olympic Corporate Sponsors to engage with China on Darfur

The upcoming Beijing Olympics provide a unique leverage point to get China more involved with Sudan. Ask Olympic Corporate sponsors to make Darfur a priority in the lead-up to the 2008 Olympic Games.
Sign the Olympic Dream for Darfur Petition to Olympic Corporate Sponsors.
Visit Dream for Darfur to learn more about activism and the Olympics.

3. Ask President Bush: Find Helicopters for Darfur

Helicopters are essential for a successful peacekeeping operation in Darfur, but few countries have stepped forward to provide them! Ask President Bush to offer U.S. helicopters for the force and also to request support from other countries to provide these crucial resources.
Sign the Save Darfur Petition to President Bush.
