SUPPORT WORK ON THE GROUND
The Devil Came on Horseback is partnering with Global Grassroots and Three Generations to make a concrete difference in the lives of Darfurian refugees. Proceeds from the film go back to support Global Grassroots' work on the ground with Darfurian genocide survivors.

Global Grassroots was founded in 2004 by Gretchen Steidle Wallace, Brian’s sister and a producer of The Devil Came on Horseback. Global Grassroots is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which offers social entrepreneurship training and seed funding to help genocide survivors launch their own ideas for social change benefiting women. In 2005, Global Grassroots initiated its work in the refugee camps of eastern Chad among refugees from Darfur, Sudan. A year later, Global Grassroots expanded its program among widowed genocide survivors and sexual assault victims with HIV in Kigali, Rwanda.
One hundred percent of Global Grassroots’ proceeds from The Devil Came on Horseback will support self-initiated projects benefiting genocide survivors. One of our first social projects will enable Adam, a Darfurian English teacher, to realize his dream of establishing a human rights library to teach fellow refugees about human rights, women’s rights and child’s rights. Through his library’s educational programs, Adam will begin to address issues of domestic violence, female circumcision and child abuse. Read more about Adam’s idea and how you can support him.

Three Generations is a non-profit organization, founded in 2006 by Jane Wells, a producer of The Devil Came on Horseback, to bear witness to genocide. The founder’s father worked on the documentation of the Holocaust 60 years before the Darfur genocide. One of the legacies of the Holocaust has been that subsequent genocidiers have been careful to hide and debureaucratize their atrocities. We have to ensure that the possibility of denial is not permitted. Amassing witness testimony and irrefutable evidence not only serves history but also honors those who have perished. Three Generations is spearheading efforts to translate the film into Arabic and will be making a return visit to the Darfur refugee camps of Eastern Chad in early 2008 to screen the film with refugees and record further testimonies.

In addition to our charitable partners Global Grassroots and Three Generations, there are many humanitarian aid organizations doing important work on the ground in Chad and Darfur, many of which are already supporters of the film. Contact us if you would like to use the film to fundraise for your favorite organization.
