WATCH. LEARN. ACT
The Devil Came on Horseback, the first feature-length, award-winning documentary on Darfur is fast becoming the go-to resource for individual and community education and has begun to serve as the glue needed to strengthen and unify a broad set of endeavors already working for the sake of Darfur. Our film presents a compelling portrait of an ordinary American who chose to make a difference when presented with a moral dilemma, a story which can inspire any individual to take action on this cause. Our outreach campaign not only educates, but also mobilizes our audiences to take action through existing social networks and organizations that will help further their collective engagement.

Educational Programming:
The film’s Educational Outreach Program, spearheaded by Global Grassroots, offers viewers a range of online resources and hands-on advisory support to WATCH, LEARN and ACT for Darfur. See our Tools page for a grassroots organizing guide, instructions for planning and publicizing a screening or house party, template press release, ad slicks and high-resolution promotional photos, poster artwork, a discussion guide developed in conjunction with the Holocaust Council of Educators, workshops for student activism and specially-designed Action Cards with tools and strategies to make a difference. To date, over 25,000 of our Action Cards have been distributed across the country, and the design has been adapted by groups for use in France, Sweden, UK and Canada.

Helping Genocide Survivors Rebuild:
We are delighted to be able to contribute nearly half of our film's proceeds towards work with genocide survivors. Global Grassroots is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which offers social entrepreneurship training and seed funding to help genocide survivors launch their own ideas for social change benefiting women.
